Coaching Skills
The Mandana Group has designed a comprehensive program
where managers are selected, trained and then serve as
coaches within their organization. The program consists
of:
1. Coaching Skills: A 1-2 day training
workshop with multiple exercises for practicing coaching
skills.
- Coaching Basics
- Listening and Inquiry
- Exploring Internal Stance
- Checking Assumptions
- Clarifying Goals
- Providing Feedback
- Identifying and Exploring Options
2. Coaches begin meeting with their assigned
coachees
3. Coaching Clinics: 2 hour sessions
held every 3 months
- Assessing the coaching relationship
- What's working? What's difficult?
- Increasing directness in conversations
4. Evaluation
- Coach and coachee discuss their experience
- Coaches receive feedback from their coachees
- The coaching program is evaluated
- Coachees are invited to become coaches (providing
they meet the criteria) and the coaching program cycle
begins again
5. Objectives:
- Increase manager’s abilities to effectively
coach and mentor staff members
- Build managerial back-up strength
- Encourage a culture of development, constructive feedback
and collegial support
